Trained professional staff can come to you to assist you in managing your soil fertility by providing advice on use of fertilisers and soil amendments that will improve the performance of your soil. Identification of deficiency symptoms and diagnosis of poor performing areas is what we specialize in so get us out to have a look!
Soil and Plant Testing – On farm sample collection, analysis with Independent NATA certified lab, interpretation of results and recommendations to suit your particular crop or pasture production system.
Soil Health Assessment – Objectively monitoring the quality of your soil structure is an important measure that can be used to assess the sustainability of farm operations. By recording qualitative visual assessments on a regular basis provides important feedback to management.
Monitoring nutrient levels in your soil can be matched against the actual plant uptake of those nutrients (particularly trace elements) into the plant leaf / plant sap or cotton petiole. Sampling soil at incremental depths helps build a picture of what is accessible to the roots and what constraints they face (acidity, sodicity etc). By looking at total and BSES soil nutrient pools as well as indicators of the size of plant available nutrient pools all helps to make better decisions about fertiliser application.
Microbial Biomass analysis- Soil Samples can also be analysed to give an indication of the health of your soil populations of bacteria, fungi, nematodes (including root lesion nematodes) and protozoa.
Knowing if these populations are increasing or decreasing can indicate what impact certain farm practices and products are having on the biological fertility of your soil.
FARM TRIALS
Fertile Farm is continually working with its clients to objectify outcomes of using various fertiliser products and programs. We can assist you in laying out a trial to make observations or gather data to validate the worth of what you spend on fertiliser.
WORKSHOPS AND PRESENTATIONS
Assisting farmers to better understand soil health and how they can manage to improve it is what we do. Don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss how we can run a soil heath workshop or act as a Guest speaker at your event/field day.
